The Muslim Quarter, also acknowledged as Huimin Jie in Chinese, is the hub of the Muslim community in Xi'an City. This is where you can taste the Chinese-style aroma of the Silk Street cuisine.
The quarter covers quite a few blocks inhabitated by way of over 23,000 Muslim citizens. There are about ten mosques in the region of the Muslim Street, among which the Great Mosque in the Huajue Lane is the most well-known and popular.
Muslim meals and memento market is another characteristic of the area. The Beiyuanmen Muslim Market placed just to the north of the Drum Tower is a superb preference after the sightseeing in the town center. About 500 meters (about 547 yards) in size from south to north, the avenue can be reached via the archway under the Drum Tower. This road is paved with darkish colored stone with inexperienced timber offering heavy color during summer; the buildings on both sides of the street are modeled on the patterns of both the Ming (1368-1644) and the Qing Dynasties (1644-1911). Some of the constructions are restaurants; whilst others are stores. But here there is one thing in common: the owners are all Muslims.
When paying a food tour to this street, you will find Chinese hamburgers - a make of two hard bun pieces with beef loaf without lettuce, is a delicious street food. Another local food called Rongjiamuo (lamb soup with noodles and bun pieces). Those two are the most famous dishes you can't miss during your trip to Xian.
