If you want to take an extended break from the hustle and bustle of Beijing and explore the natural and cultural beauties of northern China, these 3-day Great Wall programs are sure to have what you're seeking. For these 3-day routes, you will get an extended and up-close-and-personal view of the Great Wall. Here you will get the classic Great Wall hikes, like Jinshanling-Simatai and Jiankou-Mutianyu. But here you will go beyond the standard hiking route and into some of the more unknown areas of the Great Wall. Great Wall Adventure Club is the perfect guide for your Great Wall hiking and camping.
This program combines four of the most well-known Great Wall hikes and one of the Great Wall's least known sections. Your trek begins with the walk from Jiankou Great Wall, which features dramatic peaks and ruins that are a photographer's dream. You'll soon hike over into Mutianyu, one of the most famous and popular sections of the Great Wall, but one who has escaped the tackiness of other popular Great Wall spots. The next day we'll have the classic Gubeikou-Jinshanling hike, which allows you to see both restored and "wild" Great Wall, giving you a more nuanced look at the Great Wall. After sleeping in one of Jinshanling's more massive watchtowers, you'll continue your hike to Second Valley (West Simatai), a strategic point on the Great Wall that is a bit of a challenge due to its steepness and condition.
This program takes you to the classic Beijing-area Great Wall hikes. We start at Gubeikou, where we will hike through Jinshanling until we reach Simatai’s west portion within Jinshanling. With both unrestored “Wild Wall” and remarkable brickwork and watchtowers, this will make for an excellent study in contrasts. The scene then shifts to Jiankou, which is fast becoming one of the most photographed sections of the Great Wall, and once on it, it’ll easy to see why. Much like the previous day’s hike, Jiankou-Mutianyu makes for a fascinating study of contrasts in Great Wall styles. We conclude your tour with a visit to Huanghuacheng-Xishuiyu, which also features the restored and unrestored Great Wall, and which features an exceedingly rare sight-the Great Wall underwater!
If you’re into rugged scenery and unrestored Great Wall while looking to get some fantastic photos, then this is the program for you. If you wish to enjoy an utterly outdoor sleeping on the Great Wall for both nights, this is the program designed for you!
This hike takes you on two of the trendiest Great Wall treks, all the while being treated to some of the most amazing vistas and scenery that you will ever see. Jiankou-Mutianyu is fast becoming the most famous Great Wall hike, and it’s easy to see why: unrestored Great Wall magnificently set upon the mountains, elegant brickwork, amazing watchtowers, dramatic peaks, and valleys-Jiankou-Mutianyu has it all.
On the Huanghuacheng-Xishuiyu, you’ll get to experience that rarest of Great Wall treats-and underwater portion of the Great Wall!
You'll get an up-close and personal view of the Great Wall on this hike. The first leg of your journey begins with the Gubeikou-Jinshanling-Simatai hike, a classic and popular trek suitable for all ages. However, unlike most people, the Great Wall will serve as your hotel as you sleep under the stars in a Great Wall watchtower. That's right. You get to camp out on the Great Wall of China! We'll complete your program by hiking from Huanghuacheng-Xishuiyu, an often overlooked Great Wall trek that features rugged wild wall as well as dramatic vistas and stunning scenery.
Experience the rougher side of the Great Wall with this challenging hike. We start at Jiankou, an increasingly popular section famous for its breathtaking ruins and picturesque mountain setting. We’ll cross over into Mutianyu, one of the most photographed portions of the Great Wall. Mutianyu, primarily restored, is set in a valley with watchtowers that dot the horizon.
The next day we’ll hike the Huanghuacheng-Xishuiyu trail, and here you will get to discover an incredible sight, the Great Wall underwater! This program concludes with a visit to Badaling, but it’s not the Badaling that you often hear. This Badaling is unrestored and in its natural state, and makes for an invigorating hike. We’ll end at Shixiaguan, one of the most intact portions of the Great Wall remaining and situated in a dreamy setting of mountain and rolling hills.
Getting away from the hustle and bustle of some of the Great Wall’s busier sections, this tour lets you stretch out your feet and relax while also experiencing some of the Great Wall’s most serene and least touristy sections. This tour starts at Chengde, which served as the summertime resort for many emperors of the Qing dynasty.
After touring the splendid Summer Resort and its surrounding temples, we’ll start our hike from the Panjiakou to the Xifengkou Great Wall. Set against the backdrop of a peaceful lake, this virtually empty and unrestored section allows you a much more intimate Great Wall experience than at most other areas. While hiking Xifengkou, you will get to witness a most extraordinary thing-the Great Wall submerged underwater!
" My wife and I recently completed a three day Great Wall walk with your company, which we were very grateful that we were able to change dates and how many people were going at the last minute. You were very professional and accommodating. The walk was Route 3A Gubeiou-Jinshanling-Simatai West (Second Valley)-Jiankou-Mutianyu.
This choice gave us a broad range of restored and unrestored as well as being able to camp on the wall, which was a once in a lifetime experience.
The performances of the guide and the driver were first class. Barry, the guide was cheerful and welcoming. Our long drive to the beginning of the walk turned into an enjoyable and interesting trip as we shared personal details of our lives. This gave us an insight into the everyday Chinese life and lives.
As we have no dietary restrictions we gave Barry carte blanche when ordering our meals. He made sure we sampled a wide range of Chinese cuisine throughout the tour.
Waking up at sunrise after camping on the wall was an experience we will never forget. Barry’s extensive knowledge of the wall’s history and his advice of the best places to take photos or have our photo taken by him considerably enhanced the experience.
We whole heartedly thank Barry and Mr Zhou our driver for their care and attention thus making this a most memorable tour. We would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the culture and customs as well as the Great Wall."
