This program is an incredible way to get the best out of your short time in China. In just four days, you will get to go on the three most famous Great Wall hikes. We’ll start with the trek from Jinshanling to West Simatai, a hike that combines classically restored Great Wall along with its natural and unrestored state. Tonight you’re in for a real treat, as you’ll get to camp inside one of the Great Wall’s watchtowers! Next we’ll hike from Huanghuacheng to Xishuiyu, a hike rapidly growing in popularity and featuring an underwater portion of Great Wall.
If you come in the spring or summer, you’ll see that the surrounding countryside is bathed in the glow of blooming yellow wildflowers. Our program we’ll conclude with a trek from Jiankou to Mutianyu, which also features restored and natural Great Wall. These three hikes are a photographer’s fantasy, as you’ll have loads of opportunities for stunning views and pictures.

Aaron was a fantastic guide. He was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and pleasant. His command of English was great, and he was very informative about local geography and Chinese history. He was very sensitive to my dietary restrictions (vegetarian) and worked with the various restaurants to make sure I was able to get the food I needed. He was also flexible in adjusting the itinerary since I had some knee problems during the middle of the trip. The driver Mr. Bai was relatively new, and while pleasant, was not as flexible as Aaron. They worked out everything that had to be worked out. All in all, it was quite a memorable trip, and I've already recommended Aaron and the Company to my client who makes frequent trips to China. I hope we'll be able to sign up for another adventure soon! Many thanks.

Our hike will start from Simatai, and we will make our way west along the Wall into Jinshanling. That is the classic Great Wall that hikers are very thrilled about. Wall enthusiasts have done. The Wall runs from a deteriorated wild state to the restored in the end to allow hikers to compare the differences between the two wall status.
Tonight, we will camp on the Great Wall in an ancient watchtower.

Accommodation: Camping on the Wall
Gubeikou is mostly Wild Wall. It was first built during the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-557) and rebuilt in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The Wall stretches for about 25 miles (40 kilometers) with 172 watchtowers, 14 beacon towers, 16 passes, 3 water passes, 3 barbarians, and 6 fortresses along with it.
In 1933, the Chinese army fought against Japanese invasion troops at Gubeikou. In the four-month-long battles, over 5,000 Japanese soldiers and 9,000 Chinese soldiers died on the Great Wall. You can see that Gubeikou is not merely a relic, but it remained a battlefield in the modern world.

From Jiankou, we will cross over onto Mutianyu, a section of the Wall that has been largely restored. Although it has gotten a face-lift, it avoids the army of tourists that plague Badaling. Mutianyu offers some breathtaking views of the valley and Wall. The construction of the Mutianyu Great Wall has a unique style. The Zhengguan platform, with three enemy towers standing side by side, is rare in the Great Wall. Mutianyu has also become famous for visiting foreign leaders and celebrities.

Accommodation: Good Fortune Inn
Huanghuacheng is the only section that sits beside the lakes, so it is called Lakeside Great Wall. Since the lake breaks this section of the Great Wall into three segments naturally, its uniqueness might surprise you.
The Hanghuacheng Reservoir lies here, shaped like a curved moon. The Wall's highest point is a broken watchtower, and from there, you will have a broad panoramic view of the whole valley. From this summit, the Wall dives steeply downwards into the valley.
We will transfer you to the airport from your hotel in Beijing for free. It's our appreciation to you for having chosen us for your lifetime Great Wall experience.
We'll treat you with farm-to-table meals and special breakfast watchtower delivery on the camping day. We offer a dining experience that reflects the unique ingredients and creativity of every part of the Great Wall we travel. After an active day on the Wall, it's time to see what other great choices are on the menu.
